The Juvenile Justice Community Services Program is operated by Cray Youth and Family Services, Inc. and developed in collaboration with the Lawrence County Juvenile Probation Department. Cray aids LCJP by helping juvenile offenders complete community service, goal plans, and ultimately help hold youth accountable for their offenses. This service also includes a limited transportation component to assist LCJP in making sure the children and families who are referred, attend scheduled check-ins, meetings, and appointments.
Through this service, Cray helps connect youth with community partners who provide volunteer opportunities. These opportunities help build character and responsibility, while meeting requirements of their probation terms. Community partners include: New Castle and Ellwood City’s Public Works Departments, Ellwood City, New Wilmington, and New Castle’s Fire Departments, the Yellow Ribbon Organization, Ellwood City’s Food Bank, St. Vitus’ Food Program, the Salvation Army Thrift Store, Geri Care, New Castle Christian Academy, the YZone, the Lawrence County Historical Society, and the Hoyt Center for the Arts.
Cray is always looking for new community service sites and experiences for youth. If you have a project in mind, please contact Cray’s Clinical Director: Jeff Wolfe at 724-654-5507.
