Cray 1-to-1 Mentoring Lawrence County seeks to make life better for kids through the power of meaningful relationships.
Give of your time…
Cray 1-to-1 Mentoring Lawrence County is a volunteer program that strategically matches adult mentors with youth between the ages of 6 and 18, many of whom reside in single parent households. Matches are made through a careful screening process that assesses commonalities and compatibility of both the adult and child, to ensure that the relationship has a foundation to grow. The purpose of the program is to provide children in need of a supportive relationship with both a mentor and a friend. Volunteers make a commitment of at least one year, for 6-12 hours each month, with the support of 1-2-1 staff. If you are interested in becoming a mentor, call 724-654-5507.
Calling all high school mentors…
There are also mentoring opportunities for high school students looking to make a difference in the life of a child. High school mentors must be at least 15 years old, meet with staff for a screening process, and must be able to commit to meeting in a group setting once per week during the school year.
Give of your treasury…
We’re always looking for mentors, but if you can’t give of your time, donations are welcome. Cray 1-to-1 Mentoring Lawrence County does not receive any state or federal funding- we are only able to provide these mentoring opportunities because of the generosity of community donors.
“When I was first matched with my mentee, she would cover her face with her hands, look down and not respond to any questions. After one year of being matched, we went to a cheerleading exhibition where she was surrounded by all kinds of new people. On the way home she said that she wanted to come back next year and do the cheers. What an extremely successful night!” -From a Mentor

Congratulations to Sam, Cheyanne, and P.J. on your graduations! We are so proud of you!
Thank you to the Missions Committee and First Presbyterian Church! With your support, several of our mentors and kids will be attending workshops at the Hoyt this summer!
“First times” are a BIG deal when it comes to mentoring. Some recently experienced “firsts” included bowling, playing bocce ball, and getting a job!
High School Mentoring Programs will be back in the fall! Students ages 15-17 are encouraged to apply. They will need an application, two references, and an interview with our staff. High School Mentors will meet as a group with their elementary aged mentees in evening programming that is supervised by our staff! The first program we will be offering will be on Wednesday evenings in Neshannock Township. We hope to start programming in early October and conclude mid-May. Grab some friends and get your community service hours for school in a really fun way!
